konstfack research week 2019
60-90% of students pursuing education in the fields of arts and design are female. Yet, after graduation only 20% of them will be visible on the market or mentioned in publications. This information was presented during the lecture held by Delphine Bedel – "Publishing as a Feminist Practice" as a part of Konstfack Research Week 2019. Intrigued by these numbers, I took a few recently published design books and counted male and female designers mentioned in them. The results are shown in the short video KNOW / KNEW / KNOWN as the amount of male designers is being presented on the left stack and the amount of female designers on the right one.
