60–90% of students pursuing education in the fields of arts and design are female. Yet, after graduation, only 20% of them will be visible on the market or mentioned in publications. This information was presented during the lecture held by Delphine Bedel, "Publishing as a Feminist Practice", as a part of Konstfack Research Week 2019.
Intrigued by these numbers, I took a few recently published design books and counted male and female designers mentioned in them. The results are shown in the short video KNOW / KNEW / KNOWN as the number of male designers is being presented on the left stack and the number of female designers on the right one.
